Reimagine Update September 2024

In May, we launched the Reimagine Project because we were sensing God calling us to new and bold efforts to reach a shifting culture. Specifically, we set out to do three things:

  • Activate our spaces in order to meet more people in the regular rhythms of their lives.

  • Amplify local good so we could put love on display in an irresistible way.

  • Anchor the faith of the next generation… because the faith of the next generation is worth everything.

I want to give you an update on where we’re at with everything. As you may know, Reimagine was a $20M project. We raised $14.8M, which was incredible! So many of you took a huge faith step to pledge above and beyond your regular giving, and Reimagine had by far the widest level of participation we’ve ever had with these type of projects. But with what we raised, there are some aspects of the project we have started to follow through on, and other elements we’re holding off on for the time being.

We are moving forward with all the initiatives around anchoring the faith of the next generation: tripling student involvement at catalytic events like camps, reworking children’s and student spaces at Sloan Creek and Woodbridge, and the residency program.

We are also focused on amplifying local good by supporting the Local Good Pantry.

The Pantry received a new truck in partnership with North Texas Food Bank. And the Local Good Center was again named their Impact Partner of the Year! By the way, in July, 19,000 people were fed because of the pantry, which is by far the largest month yet. I’m so glad we’re amplifying local good because the need is so big. Local Good Resale is being developed and readied to launch soon.

Next Campus Location

We are also actively searching for the next campus location and building relationships in communities to understand where we can best add value. We’re currently looking north of 380. Please be praying for the right location to launch a reimagined campus built around the daily needs of the community.

Local Good Coffee Co.

In terms of activating our spaces, which included adding unique value adds at each campus, we are adding childcare to all of our campuses within the next year. Also, Local Good Coffee Co. at the Legacy Campus has been a huge hit. Since the opening, we have had over 45,000 purchases made, which means tens of thousands of people have walked through those doors, used the space, or played pickleball. Through Reimagine we were able to add a playground for children.

Updates on The Chapel

As more pledges and fulfillment comes in, we can roll out more of the elements, but we don’t want to overcommit financially and so we’re clarifying plans and are taking these slower right now. And some of you have asked about the chapel. At the moment, we’re holding off on that. It doesn’t mean we won’t do it, but we’re moving forward with these other elements first.

I shared this back in May that I love how this project had the widest participation ever. And when there’s a gap between what we feel called to do and the resources that we have, it leaves space for God to move in an incredible way. He often winds up doing something unexpected, whether it’s a partnership we weren’t expecting, or for more pledges to come in. Iif you are new and you’d like to participate financially, you can go to the website or we’d love to sit down with you and share more.

Thanks for continuing to pray for wisdom, provision, and that all of this would help us be faithful to Jesus’ mission as a church.
