Local Good Resale Demo Started: Coming Early 2025

Hi there, and welcome to the Reimagine update. I'm Liz, and today we're going to bring you the latest on one of the ways we're amplifying local good. I'm standing in front of the soon-to-be Local Good Resale shop that plans to open its doors to the community in January 2025.

This building in East Plano (off K Avenue) is on its way to becoming the Local Good Resale. Executive Director of Local Good, Julissa Estrada, is ready to get this demolition started. Estrada says the focus of this non-profit will be to help the community through in-kind donations.

Estrada shares, “All of these generous donations will help us fuel community transformation. It will help us fund the Local Good Center, and it will help us fund the Local Good Pantry. We love what we get to do there and we want to keep doing it so all the sales here will help us continue to do that.”

While the funds will support the community, anyone and everyone are welcome to shop at Local Good Resale.

Estrada says unlike most thrift stores in the area, the Local Good Resale will be accepting new and like-new home good furnishings and household goods. “We have a ton of thrift stores that focus on clothing and shoes and all of that. And there are enough to go around, but there's not a store that focuses right in this area on home goods. And so we're like, ‘That's what's missing.’ We need a store where people can walk in and find great quality items with great affordable prices and furnish their homes.”

How To Get Engaged

Local Good Resale plans to open in early 2025, but before then they are gearing up to build teams of people to help run the store.

“We'll start building our teams and getting people in place,” Estrada says. “We're going to need a lot of people to help us sort to stuff and assemble furniture. And so there's a lot of opportunities and ways that they can get involved.”

Estrada is looking forward to reimagining this space that will fuel community transformation with every purchase and donation. Soon, this space and these walls will benefit and support the community, all because of you and your generosity.
